Four Seasons Sayan, Bali

Four Seasons Sayan in Bali offers an incredible private riverfront villa that is quiet and picturesque.  Walking up to the villa on the rooftop outfitted with a lotus pool surrounding a seating area is very special.  Walking down the staircase to come to the front door, which once opened,  reveals the most breathtaking view of the river,  just past the private sundeck with plunge pool.  The villas are secluded enough so you do not see villas on either side. Watch for the white water rafters coming through, though.

Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay, Bali

Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay in Bali offers Balinese style villas with views of the ocean, private plunge pools, and impeccable grounds for walking and relaxing.  There is always a cart available for you if you are not in the mood for a walk.  It is a very spacious property and a workout to get from the villa to the pool, beach, or lobby.  The beach is quiet and clean; don’t  forget to reserve a bed on the beach for dinner!

Recently I dined at RED SQUARE, a fine dining establishment in the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. I thought the food was outstanding – filet Oscar – Wow! Does anyone else have a favorite restaurant in Las Vegas? What was the meal you loved?

Japan

At Sapporo’s Snow Festival in Hokkaido, Japan, artisans from around the world carve huge, fantastic designs in ice and snow, recreating landmark buildings, historical figures, and cartoon characters. There are lots of festival activities, plus skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling (the powdery snow is legendary). Stay at a luxury city hotel, or a traditional ryokan (guest house), ending each day with a soak in a Japanese onsen (hot spring bath).

Further south, on the main island of Honshu, in the mountains northwest of Tokyo, there’s plenty of great skiing in Nagano, known as the Japanese Alps. This region is also famous for its Snow Monkeys (Japanese Macaque).

Wow! For luxury at a ski in, ski out resort, try the St. Regis in Deer Valley, Utah. The rooms have awesome views and the resort has excellent service, food, ambience and atmosphere. Nature surrounds you and the funicular can take you to main street in Park City. Enjoy the spa and relax or swim in the pool as you watch for deer on the slopes. Does it get any better than that?
